Well Google is doing away with its iGoogle option, and I have to say I was a bit distressed about this news! However, I decided to stop whining and find a replacement. I had heard a lot of good things about Symbaloo so I decided to try it out. And I've got to say I am really enjoying it!
Symbaloo is a visual bookmark, which allows you to link to your favorite websites and news sources on a personal dashboard called a "webmix". I have set Symbaloo as my web homepage and my personal webmix has all the places that I visit on a daily basis. Symbaloo makes it easy to create tiles for the webmix and any link can be used for the tiles. Symbaloo is a quick easy way to bookmark your favorite sites.
I have also found Symbaloo to be a valuable resource while I am hosting professional develop sessions with the teachers in my district. I just set a new Symbaloo webmix with whatever sites or web 2.0 tools I am sharing. It makes my presentation more efficient for all involved. Symbaloo also allows you the option of sharing your webmix with others. This could also work in the classroom. If you have sites that you use on a regular basis with students or if you are introducing new sites, you could easily set a webmix that is ready to use at any time.
Symbaloo can also be accessed wherever you are are. Symbaloo stores preferences in the cloud, therefore it is accessible on any computer, smart phone or tablet. I definitely recommend giving Symbaloo a try. I think you will like it as much as I do!

The creator of Interactive Sites for Education has done a fabulous job of collecting various interactive, educational games and simulations for Kindergarten through 5th grades. At Interactive Sites for Education, you can find games that have been categorized as Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts; as well sections on Music, Art, Holidays, and even Brainteasers.
